According to Rep. Bob Morris the Girl Scouts of America are “subverting” American family values by “sexualizing” young girls and sending them on their way to becoming communists and lesbians. To make matters worse, Morris points out that Michelle Obama is an honorary president of this organization.
Oh my God! Now, we have some insight into what goes into those ever-so-popular Girl Scout Cookies. As Morris points out, the Girl Scouts are in cahoots with Planned Parenthood.
But fear not little ones, there is another organization that will save you from this subverted element and make you whole again. Morris removed his children from the Girl Scouts and enrolled them in a parent-run organization for recovering Girl Scouts, the American Heritage Girls.
At this point you have to be wondering if this story about the Girl Scouts is a spoof, and I wish it were, but it is not. Rep. Morris actually seems to believe what he’s saying about the Girl Scouts, which is really frightening when you consider this is a man who makes decisions that affect our country; he is one of our leaders.
Here’s the deal with Morris. For one thing he owns a chain of nutritional stores and likely sees those sugary Girl Scout cookies as a competitor. Secondly, he’s a anti-abortion fanatic and an obvious anti-feminist. Yes, he’s another one of those conservative idiots that believes a woman’s body belongs to men and should be kept barefoot, pregnant and uneducated.
Someone should have a long reality-based talk with Morris. Someone might point out, for example, that First Ladies like Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush were also honorary presidents of the Girl Scouts of America, so it is unlikely the Michelle Obama’s involvement has anything to do with Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood or birth control.
One might also take Morris aside and point out that what he’s saying makes him look like an idiot, but what the hell, you can’t fix stupid.
